Yoga 60 on Thursday July 20, 2017

I was horribly late for this class because of huge traffic delays in Mississauga. Therefore, it was more like Yoga 52 (Yoga 60 - 8 minutes = 52). I felt bad coming in so late; however, Denise welcomed me without judgment. That’s what I love about Power Yoga.

Unfortunately, I missed all the Warriror I poses and low push ups at the beginning of the class. So, I had so much energy than what I am used to at that stage in the practice; which was good because I could focus on those poses with more intention than I have been. This also provide me with some extra energy at the end of the class. What did I do with that extra energy…

… well practicing my tripod head stands! I was able to get my legs up off my knees and hold for a few seconds which is a huge improvement. Moreover, I was able to practice lowering myself down with control.

Whie lowering down with control, the only tension I seem to have is in my left tricep; it hurts just temporarily when I get out of the pose. I believe I put a lot of my weight on it as I am coming down and out of the pose. Therefore, I thing I need to figure out why this is. Perhaps, it is likely because of lack of engagement of the core ab muscles.

Overall, I am relinquishing the fear of inversions ever since I did my sister’s inversion class. I was so scared of hurting my head or neck. However, I think during my intense Power Yoga practice I gained a lot of strength in my neck muscles, core, and this permitted me to be strong while in inversions.

Here’s the fear acronym:

F - false

E - evidence

A - appearing

R - real
