Not another Messaging App by Google!

I cannot believe there is another Messaging App by Google!

Google has Hangouts and Messenger, and now Google Allo!

I have been using Google Allo which is a strange combination of a messaging app and a Google Assistant which makes it a “smart messaging app”. Therefore, it is a little strange because I can talk to my “assistant” which makes it seem like I am talking to someone, but I am not.

However, this is all kinda cool because you can have reoccurring messages each day by your assistant such as mindful tips and these tips will be delivered to your phone at a time that you specify. I also have setup the assistant to deliver the weather every day. Therefore it makes sense and it is very useful.

The “listening” part of the app is very fast and responsive compared to the general google now on my Sony Xperia Z3 phone. So I tend to use it more than the other apps. Google Maps is slow when you are trying to determine the commute time compared with Google Allo which is very quick. I am not entirely sure why there is a difference in speed.

This app is a strange combination and I doubt that it will be successful because I tried to get my sister to use it and she did not seem to understand it immediately, so she shrugged at the App and refused to download it on her iPhone.

Therefore, I am curious as to where this smart messaging app will end up?

Deprecated is my guess.
